Introducing Joy…

Welcome to my new blog! It is January 2017, over the last few days I have been chatting away to my friends and family about my sailing exploits. They have said, why don’t you write about them? I used to keep a blog when I had a different life, so why not? I thought…

I recently rediscovered sailing. Living in North Wales in late 2013/ early 2014 I found myself single and not knowing what to do with myself. A friend, after many conversations about sailing and the sea said “why don’t you come sailing with me?”. So 22nd December 2013 I went sailing on a lake in a dinghy called ‘Sea Miracle’…

My intention for this blog is to write about the boats I’ve sailed, the people I’ve met and the silly things that have happened along the way (some heavily edited!!). Boats are named but folk are not, if you would like me not to name your boat please let me know…

Anyway, I am no Ellen McArthur, I have no ambitions to sail single handedly around the world, I am just someone who has found something she loves, I am learning to sail, I have just completed my day skipper – please don’t think I’m particularly skilled at this sailing lark! My last instructor suggested that I needed ‘lots of experience’ sailing before I moved on to the next level – hmph! He is of course right, it is quite hard getting the right sort of experience when you don’t have your own boat. You have to take and seek any opportunities that come your way – which has made my sailing journey so far a little bit colourful…
